Associate Pastor Jordan:
Jordan Scruggs is the Associate Pastor and Director of Outreach and Local Mission at Saint James United Methodist Church. Originally from the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, Jordan graduated with a degree in English Literature from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC before studying for her Masters at Yale Divinity School in New Haven, CT.
In addition to coordinating outreach-related activities for members of Saint James, Jordan serves as chief facilitator for Midtown Rising, a cooperative ministry of Saint James and Clinton Avenue United Methodist Church that addresses housing insecurity in the City of Kingston. Jordan also serves as a founding board member of Kingston’s first social enterprise incubator and as a member of the board of Transart, the Hudson Valley’s African American Cultural Services provider. In her free time, Jordan enjoys reading, spending time outside, and teaching classes with Rising Hope at Woodbourne Correctional Facility. She resides in Kingston, NY with her husband, Kevin, who serves as pastoral caregiver at Caring Hands Soup Kitchen at Clinton Avenue United Methodist and as a chaplain at Bard College. Jordan is currently pursuing ordination in the United Methodist Church.
