United Women in Faith

The organized unit of United Women in Faith (formerly “United Methodist Women”) is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

All women of St. James are welcome and considered a member of UWF.  We meet once a month for fellowship, prayer and service.

Our greatest accomplishment over the past ten years has been the funding of a mothers’ waiting medical building in Zimbabwe, Africa, which is an on-going project.

In April 2016 Pastors Dave and Jordan and three members of St. James United Women in Faith traveled to Zimbabwe for the Grand Opening of a beautiful new building in which expectant mothers can await the safe birth of their new babies! A few days after the formal handing over of the new building to the local chief, the first baby was safely delivered .  Again in the summer of 2017 another group traveled with Pastor Jordan, and helped build an outdoor kitchen structure, sidewalk for wheelchairs, fencing for gardens, and ponds for fish!  They brought vital medical supplies and taught girls at the middle school level about caring for their bodies, providing them with washable “Days for Girls” kits, so that girls don’t lose a week each month due to not having sanitary supplies while menstruating.  This has been a real obstacle for girls trying to complete their school studies, so many girls simply drop out of school after falling behind in their studies.
